One day, Billy's subway ride ends in the cave of the magician Shazam, who has chosen the boy to carry the magical powers because of his good heart.

Whenever Billy now uses the word Shazam! he turns into a superhero. Suddenly, Billy is stuck in the body of an adult well-trained giant, has godlike superpowers and can buy beer. As a child in the muscle-bound body of a demigod, you can do a lot of mischief with your superpowers and he does.

Exuberant and with youthful recklessness, Billy and his new brother Freddy set out to try out his new skills, according to the motto: The main thing is to have fun! Can he fly? Can he fire lightning from his wrist or use X-ray vision? Shazam tests the limits of his powers with a lot of wit and childlike ruthlessness. But soon he has to learn to use his powers for more than skipping an exam at school, because the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana is already waiting to wrest his powers from the inexperienced Shazam.

Wild play suddenly becomes serious. Shazam needs a mentor to get his skills under control as quickly as possible. Will he be able to defend himself against the evil forces of Dr. Thaddeus Sivana?
