Thor is the only Marvel hero who existed thousands of years before the comic book publisher itself. Together with his family, he forms part of the core of Nordic mythology – in which he is known as the God of Thunder. It is also widely believed that Thursday was named after him. Although the comics and films somewhat differ from each other, one thing remains the same: Thor was banished to Earth by Odin. Here, he must learn to prove himself worthy of his divine descent. If he succeeds, he will regain his divine powers and be able to raise his hammer once again.
