Article description

Second album of the youngest band from the Death Metal scene. Diversified Death Metal from which the depth reveals itself little by little. "Burn after reaping" in its totality is a dirty Death Metal cracker without any weaknesses.

by Jürgen Tschamler (12.08.2009) Hackneyed's debut "Death prevails" (2008) was more than a respectable success. That has of course risen the bar - but after listening to this, it shows that the band's up to the challenge. Ok, the first, rather short and sluggish opening song "Burn" causes some headaches, but already the second track "Weed flavoured meat" picks up the lose ends left on the debut. "Burn after reaping" presents you with versatile Death Metal peppered with vocals Γ  la Chris Barnes - right, that's not so unusual, but it's those positive vibes which turn the stuff into a convincing output. Hackneyed neither feel that pressure to succeed nor are they simple copycats: they follow their own rules, resulting in individual songs such as "Redying", or "Last man on earth". "Burn after reaping" as a whole is an evil chunk of Death Metal - but it's also something for the open-minded off-genre music maniac.
