12.Bide my time
by Matthias Mader (29.09.2006) Is this really Samiam? Of course, they have to be for their name is as unique as their music style. Still, it seemed as if the band dissolved in 2000 after ten years of history. Anyway, with "Whatever's got you down" you get a brand new album with which Samiam add another chapter to the U.S. Hardcore history. Already with the opener "When we're together" (which in terms of structure reminds me of the heydays of The Who), the band proves what's in this band: rough, but melodic vocals, beautiful, but harsh guitar melodies. With "Take care", Samiam come surprisingly close to a love song, the rest is dominated by a relaxed mid-tempo pace ("Do you want to be loved" could have easily been on a Cheap Trick album, too). This is really brilliant and impossible to pigeonhole. After the splits of Sugar and Leatherface, the comeback of Samiam is even more welcomed.
