by Holger (null) Pretty strange, the new album of the Swedish hardcore combo Refused! Did I really write Hardcore? The straight edgers go nuts this time. They have new ideas, nervous, far out songwriting and ill hysteric vocals and drive the listener in new strange dimensions. Punk-core, jazz and a tiny bit of techno are pushed to a noise inferno."The shape of punk to come" is a real killer, give the disc some time! I think I can describe the music as a hard, more aggressive variant on Fugazi.The guys go mad and are not held back by crazy breaks and spacy sound-collages, the production is the absolute monster groove. "The shape of punk to come" is the prime example of 1998 HC. Damn crazy stuff!!!
