by Matthias Mineur (April 2004) Could well be that some a W.A.S.P fan astonished wonders if "The Neon God" is really by his favourite band. Because also if the majority of songs unmistakably sound after Blackie Lawless, after American hard rock and typical W.A.S.P.-ingredients, this album takes some surprising turnarounds. "The Red Room Of The Rising Sun" is such an example in which the mastermind cites early The Who, incorporates some Marillion-inspired prog guitars and lets out all his creative lust to experiment. Nevertheless, this song, too, fits on this album that can surely be called the most ambitious W.A.S.P.-records ever. Lawless deals with the question for the sense of life and the why of our all existence both musically and lyrically. The best part in 'The Neon God', subtitled "Part 1 - The Rise", is the fact that W.A.S.P already work on the second part. So this piece sees a continuation!
