13.The hinderers
by Oliver Kirchner (18.01.2007) I must admit that I have thought a bit about the band name and developed some theories around it. But I wouldn't have guessed that Daath is the Hebrew word for 'knowledge' if the info didn't tell me. Anyway, after knowing that, I could fully devote to the music of this Roadrunner debut album. You can hear in the groove of "The Hinderers" that the six guys come from Atlanta, and you can hear in the music that they love to listen to Death-, Thrash- and Black Metal. All these elements were used to create this awesome album. Variable song writing and some good instrumentation of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and a screaming vocalist, all fits together. The album was produced by James Murphy (Obituary, Testament) and mixed by Colin Richardson, who has worked for Machine Head, Cradle Of Filth and Fear Factory. Gifted hands, you see, and no less than Andy Sneap had his fingers in this ingenious debut.
