The Berlin-based heroes of Medieval sounds went a step back and on their search for new material found it in the old Greece. The "Seikilos" inspired the band. On it, you find the notes and lyrics of the oldest known European song. But not enough of that. Packed into the typical Corvus Corax sound, the listener is facing 12 new tracks. Among them such illustrious songs, like the Chinese march of the emperor, "Chou Chou Seng", a Germanic brass verse and the "Ballade de Mercy" of Francois Villon. A total of 2500 years of musical history collected on this almost classic Corvus Corax album. More than 50 instruments underpin the exceptional talent of the "Medieval Big Band". Again and again, big drums, trumpets and pipes wake you from the sleep while in the next moment fragile melodies soften the whole again. "So Lange Du Lebst, Zeige Dich. Traure über Nichts Zu Viel. Eine Kurze Frist Bleibt Zum Leben. Das Ende Bringt Die Zeit Von Selbst." (As long as you live, get yourself shown. Don't mourn too long about anything. There is only a short time to live. The end comes by itself; "Seikilos"). (Alexander Ertner - 10/02)
