21.Meet the Mother - An Introduction To The Band
by Oliver Kube (08.10.2007) When the young Australians, Wolfmother appeared on the scene with their fabulous debut-album in 2006, some an old listener thought to be listening to a lost tape of a supergroup of the late 60s or early 70s consisting of members of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and MC5. Even more authentic, more psychedelic and rougher are the ingenious songs of frontman Andrew Stockdale & Co. on stage. Each rock fan who hasn't experienced songs like the powerful "Dimension", the playful "White unicorn" or the high speed Rock'n'Roll of "Apple tree" live on stage, yet, needs this DVD filmed at a sold out 70-minute show in their hometown, Sydney. If you've ever been to a Wolfmother-gig, you'll get your copy, anyway! Bonus is an appearance at the ARIA-Awards (the "Down Under"-pendant of the Grammy), two live songs from London, plus the five video-clips of the trio (including "Joker & the thief" featuring the complete "Jackass"-cast as guest stars). The finale is a short band portrait with interviews.
