by Stefan Müller (11.04.2007) Wow, none of the musicians is older than 23 and still, on their self-titled debut, Black Stone Cherry rocks so professionally that it is pure fun to listen to. Their label names Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Black Crowes as the band's musical background, but don't worry, the quartet acts by no means old-fashioned. The first single, "Lonely train", not only lives by the rocky, Bluesy flair that is literally tangible, but especially by the phat riffs of low tuned guitars adding a modern sound to the album. You are not completely mistaking if you think of Grunge bands, like Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, here. In contrast to the bands from the Northwestern U.S. who are often brought in combination with dreariness, Black Stone Cherry seems to remember their origin's traditions and present some great Southern-style, straight forward Rock. A great debut!
