Jewel Case Version.

"Wasting Light" is one of the most unconventional Foo Fighters records to date and this is not only because it has been recorded in Dave Grohl's garage. The Foo Fighters were supported by producer Butch Vig, who already produced the legendary Nirvana opus Nevermind. The outcome of this collaboration is the genius album "Wasting Light"!

by Stefan Woldach (31.03.2011) „Garage album“ - that's the concept of this longplayer. Grohl & his gang have picked 14 out of 40 tracks - and 11 of them made it to the album. This is a no-frills release: four musicians in one room, an analogue recording - no compromises. And the Foo Fighters strut their stuff: juicy guitar sounds, snarling basses, pumping drums, scream attacks... This is no Pop, no „Learn to fly“ - this is hefty, rhythmic, sophisticated, full-blown, full-throttle Rock'n'Roll. And Grohl celebrates a nice get together with some old buddies, too: Krist Novoselic (whose piercing thunderous bass is a distinct part of the Kurt Cobain memorial anthem „I should have known“), Hüsker Dü boss Bob Mould and Fee Waybill, singer of the cult Rock outfit The Tubes do provide the backing vocals. If you're hellbent on finding a flaw, you might say that this album lacks a teensy bit of dynamics, transparency, and breathers. Apart from this, two things are obvious, though: firstly - Grohl's garage is big, secondly - it has got a high voltage system.
