The Man Who Sold The World

by Oliver Kube (01.02.2008) After the notorious lawsuits bewteen Kurt Cobain's widow, Courtney Love on the one side and Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic on the other we now finally see the release of the brilliant "MTV Unplugged" show on DVD – 15 years after its original broadcast. But the wait should be worth it for every fan of the Seattle-legends. Because except the original 44-minutes recording you now get the complete acoustic show of the trio added by members of the Meat Puppets plus The Germs-guitarist, Pat Smear, as well as previously unreleased bonus material. Beside the great picture quality and crystal clear DD 5.1.-Surround Sound, the most important additions are the two songs that were not broadcast, "Something in the way" and "Oh me". Also, the DVD contains unseen interviews with the band members and five songs from the rehearsals, including "Come as you are" and the David Bowie-cover, "The man who sold the world".
