1.Behind the scenes footage / Korn photos
by Marcel Anders (19.07.2007) The missing title and the cryptic artwork speak for themselves: with their eights studio album, the Californians celebrate a real rebirth. Without drummer David Silveria (time out),without the approved Rap-Rock of the past and without the permanently repeated soul striptease, "Korn" seems like a conscious farewell of the Nu Metal of the 90s. Dominating in the 13 new songs are spherical, gloomy keyboards, huge strings, epic choirs and well dosed guitar- and bass-salves. The sound has become bigger, more bombastic and more visionary β like the rumbling soundtrack for a SciFi/Horror-movie. And also the lyrics of Jonathan Davis show more maturity and breadth of vision. He deals with pollution ("Evolution"), the political lethargy under Bush ("Innocent bystander"), the permanent theatre with ex-guitarist, Head ("Ever be") as well as Davis' almost deadly blood disease in summer, 2006 ("Starting over"). At the same time, Korn sound as fresh, vital and powerful as they haven't in a very long time. Old heroes in their Indian summer!
