by Oliver Kube (15.09.2008) 14 songs, 14 anthems, 14 rockets: album #3 of Michael Poulsen and his gang is a perfect mix of Metal, Punk, Country, Rock’n’Roll, R&B, and Blues - you get Metallica, Elvis, Social Distortion, AC/DC, Otis Redding AND Johnny Cash. The four dare to cover two of these mentioned idols - with extreme cool results: "I’m so lonesome I could cry" is so impressive and terrific that the king himself would have let his hips rotate, and the bonus track "Making believe" (which gained fame by Social Distortion's version) should be the crowning cherry on the cake during the next tour... Although their own compositions aren't inferior to the cover versions either, proved by the Country Rock anthem "We", the irresistible title track and "Still counting" which begins with a relaxed Ska rhythm evolving into the roughest and fastest moments of the album here and there. Volbeat are on the peak of their art - crank it up and enjoy the party!
