Foo Fighters, named after a World War II secret term used to describe UFOs, are a band made up from the DNA of other great bands. Dave Grohl, originally the drummer for Nirvana, was the founding member and Grohl set up the new project after the death of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. After playing all of the instruments on the Foo Fighters' demo tape, Grohl decided it would be wise to form a band to support the album and possible future works. The original band line up consisted of Grohl on lead guitar and vocals, drummer William Goldsmith, guitarist Pat Smear and bassist Nate Mendel. Later, Taylor Hawkins would become an integral member of the group, too.

After finding their sound and creative rhythm, Foo Fighters begin steadily releasing successful albums and singles, including ‘I'll Stick Around’, ‘Monkey Wrench’ and ‘Everlong.’

However, the band truly reached their zenith with the release of 2001’s ‘Learn to Fly, which was their first single to reach the US Hot 100. After breaking into the mainstream, Foo Fighters kept fighting to stay at the top. They continued to reach new heights of success across the world, with massive anthems like ‘Best of You’ and ‘The Pretender’ becoming staples of the modern rock scene.
