Ugly Christmas Sweater - that's why they're so popular

Since "Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast" at the latest, many know how likeable it can look if you appear at a Christmas party wearing ugly Christmas jumpers. Behind the various motifs is usually a mix of "Look what I'm passionate about!" and a healthy dose of self-irony. When both come together, fashion is really fun for many! Perhaps ugly Christmas jumpers are also so popular because they seem so direct in their flashiness and self-confident designs. The time of small patterns was - at least in terms of Christmas tops - yesterday. Here, it's definitely not a case of spilling the beans, but of making a splash as you meet up with the family under the Christmas tree to sing "Jingle Bells".

Where does the tradition of the Christmas sweater come from?

Many people assume that the success story of the ugly XMas sweater can be located in Great Britain. Because: this is where it was first shown on TV in the 1980s. Even then it was clear that the presenters who wore this garment did not take themselves too seriously and loved to play with the eye-catching garment in this way. This quickly developed into a trend that - as seen in the previous Bridget Jones example - even made it into the cinema. Germany and many other countries could not escape the magic of the Christmas jumper. In the meantime, the garment even had its own day dedicated to it, just before Christmas. When would be a better opportunity to wear the garment than exactly then?
