Casual and cool on the go with vegan boots and shoes from EMP

Sustainability, animal welfare, health and many other topics have become increasingly important to us in recent years. What do we eat? Why do we eat it? And do animals have to suffer for our food? But a vegan lifestyle is not only about the food we eat. Many other products for our daily needs may contain animal materials.

For example, many leather shoes are made of genuine leather because that is said to be the most durable. But a lot has changed when it comes to leather. Not only are there now many types of synthetic leather that are just as stylish as real leather. Other synthetic materials are also used a lot these days. But what can you do if you want to be really eco? Where can you find vegan boots or shoes that you can easily order online?

What do you mean by "vegan shoes"?

If you want to have a real vegan shoe, you have to remember that such a shoe is not only made of leather. Many other components, such as wool or silk, are animal products. Even adhesives can be made from animal ingredients, such as bones, other slaughterhouse waste or even casein, which is a milk protein.

But that leaves you with the problem of how to know which vegan shoe brands are even available. The good news is that there are now many vegan boot and shoe brands that you can buy without hesitation. In the EMP online shop we have also put together a large selection of guaranteed vegan boots and winter shoes. Take a look at our category with vegan women's shoes at your leisure.

Which shoe brands are vegan that are available at EMP?

If you're looking for vegan winter shoes and especially vegan Doc Martens, you've come to the right place. The brand's vegan boots are made from synthetic materials, such as vegan faux leather, which is made from polyester and polyacrylic. The sole is made of PVC and the lining is also made without animal products. At the same time, the vegan Doc Martens are just as robust as their non-vegan counterparts.

But we can also offer you the innovative Altercore brand. The brand's simply designed, vegan boots are made from high-quality and robust synthetic materials. Here, too, you don't have to do without anything you're used to from "normal" representatives of the shoe brand. You get the same excellent quality - just without animal suffering.

Why should you wear vegan boots or shoes?

Living vegan means more than just doing without "dead animals". Sure, you contribute a small part to animal welfare, but environmental protection is also - especially in this day and age - an important factor. But you still have to pay attention to what your vegan boot or shoe is made of. Although artificial leather is not made from an animal, it can be just as harmful to the environment if, for example, petroleum is used in the production process. Not to mention that many factories in the countries of manufacture discharge their waste water with toxic chemicals into the local rivers.

Nowadays, there are all kinds of animal-free materials that are used to make shoes. For example, piñatex, which is made from long fibres of pineapple leaves and is very similar to leather. Since the pineapple leaves would otherwise be waste on the plantations, they are rolled into a fabric and virtually recycled in the production of piñatex.

Small steps also have a big impact

To do something good, it doesn't always have to be an enormous step. Sometimes even small things help to make a difference. For example, you can opt for hemp or cotton shoes with natural rubber soles. Funnily enough, the concept of vegan boots or shoes is not new to us. The famous summery espadrilles are made without animal products and even the casual-cool Chucks are made from non-animal fabrics. Why not check out our selection of Chucks while you're here?

You can also do a lot more about sustainability than you think when you shop at EMP Online Shop. Just look out for our sustainability logo. The little green leaf shows you the items that are produced in a particularly sustainable way, so you can also do something good for the environment. Together with your new vegan women's shoes, you won't have to feel guilty about buying a whole bunch of cool clothes from EMP.
