Elektro Wave

Electro wave has many names. It is also called synth wave or electronic wave - in reference to synth pop. It refers to a mixture of new wave music and strongly electronic sounds. The Human League, Anne Clark and Gary Newman, for example, are very well known in this field. In contrast to synth pop, it is also, but not primarily, danceable, but experimental. As always in this period of new music influences in the 80s and 90s, it is hard to draw boundaries to other genres such as synth pop, cold wave or dark wave.

Electro Wave later mixed with EBM music and somewhat harder electronic sounds became loud, but often mixed with a vocal melody instead of chanting, such as in the early songs of Project Pitchfork. The Eternal Afflict or Deine Lakaien also fished at the edge of the electro-wave genre. Today, there are very few bands in the black scene that can be classified as electro-wave music. One of them, for example, is Frozen Autumn. The genre is closely related to minimal electro, minimal wace and electropunk. However, many bands in the black scene make use of all these genres and cannot be clearly classified.
