The bikini then and now
A bikini is a two-piece swimsuit. The classic bikini was invented in 1946 by the French mechanical engineer Louis Réard. Roman paintings from antiquity show that the two-piece was a common fashion accessory for women. Be that as it may: thanks to Réard, the bikini achieved worldwide fame. It was intended to replace the somewhat prudish one-piece swimwear and to be first and foremost practical and comfortable. The world experienced a revolution of permissiveness and freedom.
First and foremost, icons like Marylin Monroe and Ursula Andress made the two-piece the trendy swimwear for women. Today, it's hard to imagine a wardrobe without the sexy two-piece. Both young girls and older ladies wear the bikini whenever they have the chance and look gorgeous in it. No wonder, because swimwear comes in many advantageous patterns that perfectly accentuate your figure. That's why bikinis are absolutely in with plus-size women. At EMP you'll find a plus size bikini to suit your taste.
What types of bikini are there?
Whoever wants to buy a plus size bikini online wonders which model flatters their figure best. Here's a brief overview of the different types of bikini:
The push-up bikini: favourite for small breasts
Women with small breasts will find the right swimwear in the push-up bikini. The cups are usually padded, which makes the bust appear larger and conjures up a full cleavage.
The balconette bikini
Here the semi-circular, low-slung cups are the focus. A balconette bikini is perfect for you if you also want to get a nice, even tan on your bust. The cups are cut so low that the bust is very well reached by the sun.
Bandeau bikinis
These bikinis have the advantage of being completely strapless. So you get an even tan around the shoulders and don't risk the straps cutting into your skin. Bikinis with a bandeau top are perfect for girls with small breasts.
The bottoms are also crucial
Plus Size women wear their curves with pride. Nevertheless, the figure should look harmonious overall. To achieve this, the cut of the bikini bottoms plays an important role. Panties with a high waistband conceal a little tummy. Long stripes and high leg cut-outs also stretch the leg and make you look slimmer overall.
Which bikini for a big belly?
If your problem area is your tummy, you can conceal it with the right plus size bikini. Opt for a bikini with high-waist bottoms, as these will cover your tummy and - depending on the material - also shape it a little. Or go for a tankini top with a longer cut that covers your tummy. At EMP you'll find a great selection of plus-size bikinis that will hug your figure perfectly and can even slim down a few kilos.
