by Oliver Kube (30.10.2009) "Artwork", the fourth studio album by the Post-Hardcore / Emo Rocksters starts with a surprise: "Blood on my hands". If you had expected sad, epic stuff (as they have done on their last CDs) or sounds Γ  la My Chemical Romance - hold your breath: the Utah boys have recorded their most upbeat song so far with this opening number. Musically, "Empty with you" and "Watered down" are also very peppy and positive. But don't worry, Bert McCracken & Co. haven't become party animals just like that. Dark and melancholic tracks still rule with this band. "Sold my soul" and "Meant to die" (dedicated to the late Heath Ledger) are among the best gloomy stuff The Used ever conceived. But the most exciting composition on this CD is "The best of me", an epic anthem, time and again stirred by very fast, rough and aggressive parts: highly energetic and a smasher on stage for sure.
