by Tim Petric (October 2005) Being a pioneer is blessing and curse at the same time. Franz Ferdinand are different. Or wait, they were different. What was named and praised innovative, outstanding and uncopyable in 2004 seems to be an established sound of plenty of clones only 18 months later. Still, nothing is better than the original. And so, the Scottish outfit again delivers an album that seems incomparably likeable. Franz Ferdinand copy and invent. They patch and form. The FF of the year 2005 redefine themselves and remain the same at the same time. It is great to see that there still is room for development. Developments that set signs. Easiness reigns. Caught already be the opener, "The fallen" you glide unnoticed, beguiled through the 13 songs full of playfulness and liveliness. Far from any tracklisting. Should this album again be setting trends what can be expected by the way, we can look forward to another great time of splendid releases. Thanks to the kings, thanks to Franz Ferdinand.
