Helga Gabriel lived a secluded life in the vast Swedish countryside. She sang in choirs, but in reality, the lake and the forests were always her church. Her voice floated like birds through the evening mist and sang psalms amidst birch and pine trees.
But in 2019, a calling awakened within Helga. She traveled 800 miles north to North Yorkshire, where she met three childhood friends and a precocious multi-instrumentalist. The rest is history. HELGA was born.
HELGA draws from many different influences: Swedish folk, progressive metal, post-rock, pop, and black metal. On their debut album, 'Wrapped in Mist,' they combine powerful drumming, haunting strings, and chugging riffs into a lament about mortality and mental health.
They are just getting started, but already this young band has proven to be a fresh and powerful force.
