by Florian Drees (31.03.2006) With their new album, “When worlds collide“, Maroon managed to take up many influences and release an album that is premier league. I didn't expect this of Maroon, to be honest. I wouldn't have thought that they would be so variable. Fortunately I was proven wrong, because “When worlds collide“ bursts for ideas and different musical influences. The opener, “24 hour hate“ waltzes you down with its permanent double bass and murderer solos. Also the ensuing songs are amazing. You can feel that Maroon tried new things to create a sound that doesn't shrink back for keyboards à la Bleeding Trough but still rocks like hell and doesn't forget mosh parts and gang shouts. After all, “When worlds collide“ should be one of the highlights in metal core 2006.
