by Jürgen Tschamler (20.01.2008) Two Malevolent Creation Re-Releases come down on us with power. If you can't call them your own, yet, you shouldn't hesitate any longer. The Americans have long been the leaders of brutal Death Metal. However, the band has to deal with one problem: from album to album, their line-up has always been changing. That, of course, has effects on the quality of the records. Especially striking is that on "Warkult" and "The will to kill". While the latter is a brutal killer reference, "Warkult" appears rather scatty and little determined. On "The will to kill", they kick off with typical blasts, and change some nuances over the further course. They don't kick down the speed pedal all the time but vary their pace; the result is, e.g., a midtempo-hate ball, like "With murderous precision". "Warkult" cannot compete with that, yet, as an album stands far above their competitors. Malevolent Creation are of the old school of Death Metal and fortunately do not orientate in new streams.
