by Ralf Koch (13.06.2008) He let Bush fizzle out (there never was such a thing as an official split) and the follow-up Institute just lasted for one year, and now Gavin Rossdale pursues his career under his own name. Whereas underestimated Institute sailed almost close to rock, this solo debut reminds me a bit of Chris Cornell (the voices are often quite similar): ok, this is a rock album, but there are also some signs for a certain charts affinity. The CD is very versatile and changes from smooth sounds (the first single "Love remains the same" or the charts potential ballad "Beauty in the beast") to great rock smashers like "Frontline", "If you’re not with us…" or "This is happiness". "Future world", among others, even contains some very groovy parts. If you're an aficionado of his terrific rock voice, it's easy to love this album. Nevertheless, I hope Rossdale sticks to Rock somehow and won't drift off any further...
