by Markus Wosgien (06/02) One would assume that Phil Anselmo should be fully stretched with his main band Pantera but every now and then the music maniac appears as member of other bands ì and sideprojects as lately Necrophagia, Viking Crown, Eibon or Down. ì Obviously, he cannot get enough since Superjoint Ritual is another band with ì which he expresses his musical passions - an aggressive bastard of Hardcore, ì Doom, Metal and Punk. 16 rough-ass songs which took the band 2 years are ì featured on "Use once and destroy". As support Anselmo recruted Down-ì companion Jimmy Bower as well as C.O.C., EyeHateGod and Hank Williams III. ì musicians. As expected the result is extreme, mad and you're not left much ì time to catch your breath. Dirty riffs dominate the Hardcore-focused sound ì of the quintet which ignites instantly and is easily adored. A sinister brew ì but very convincing. Anselmo (who additionally plays second guitar) has ì never sung and screamed better. An album which will scare the Nu Metal ì scene stiff! (Markus Wosgien)
