by Oliver Kube (20.04.2009) "The princess of dark romanticism" says the sticker on the cover of Eisblume's debut album. I guess they mean front siren Ria who tries to add some mystic touch to this German project with her voice reminding you a bit of a slightly weaker Amy Lee (Evanescence). Eisblume is a well-calculated Pop product, visually influenced by elements taken from Tim Burton movies ("Sleepy hollow", "Sweeney todd") and Manga aesthetics. The clinical sound has been compiled from popular Gothic, Symphonic, and Emo components, to make it compatible for the charts. The lyrics offer such naive wisdoms as "Liebe heißt Schmerz" (love means pain), weird mysticism ("Louise"), and kitschy stuff à la "Zeit zu gehen" (time to go). If you're a music fan older than 19, you won't fall for this.
