by Diana Lorenz (04/01) Anti-Flag are on a mission againts fascism, nationalism and religion since 1988 and despite these serious backgrounds perform with a lot of fun and in best mood. And also if they release their albums meanwhile on Fat Wreck Chords, the specialist for melodic Punkrock and are not stingy with catchy hits, they still stand above the many NoFX- and Lagwaggon-clones. For the one because of the a little English-sounding voice of singer/guitarist Justin Sane as well as the NoMeansNo-like prominent bass-lines, that give the Pennsylvania-based quartet its profile. For the other, it's the musical connection to the British, hymnic Punk as well as the occasional subtle Emo-feeling, that gives this album its depth. Even if the 13 songs never become dull, the highlight is the charismatic title-track as well as the heavy grooving "Culture revolution" with beautiful changes of the vocals between front-woman Justin Sane and Gang-vocals. Great!
