With Turbo Polka Party, releasing on February 3, 2023, the Austrians with Ukrainian and Russian roots present their hardest studio album to date. They deliver their usual energetic blend of ska, punk, and polka! RUSSKAJA is one of the most entertaining bands in the rock scene, never shying away from clear political statements. Just like on previous albums, such as the recent No One Is Illegal from 2019, the band makes a clear stand against war and for peace and humanity on Turbo Polka Party. Especially because of their Russian folklore-based image, it is important for them to show a clear stance once again. The song 'No Borders' stands out, for which the band has produced a shirt, with proceeds from the sales going to people who have fled from Ukraine. The lyrics say: 'No borders, no wars We’re equal, all the same No nations, no fighting Just stop this game” They undoubtedly master the balancing act between a clear message and entertainment. RUSSKAJA stay true to their style and deliver another wild party. With 'Russki Style' they tread on established paths: catchy riffs garnished with a juicy dose of ska, polka, and punk. 'Shapka' adds another genre to the multifaceted color scheme: polka and ska meet nu metal reminiscent of the heyday of Limp Bizkit. While the guitars set the pace, the brass instruments closely follow the breathtaking tempo. But no party without friends. Micha Rhein from In Extremo finds a place on the wistful 'Olga von der Wolga'. The electrifying reggae-metal single 'Vozdukh' is supported by Skindred's singer Benji Webbe. Followed by the German-Spanish song 'Senales', which convinces with exotic groove featuring the Hamburg dance act Le Fly. Energetic rhythms and fiery riffs bring about a holiday feeling. Even the Wham hit 'Last Christmas' is not safe from RUSSKAJA. Turbo Polka Party was written by singer Georgij Makazaria and guitarist and singer Engel Mayr. The latter recorded, mixed, and produced the album. The result is an authentic and humorous album that stands out from the band's discography, not least because of its hardness. RUSSKAJA once again prove that they have evolved, as can be experienced on one of the extensive Tours of the band.
