Excellent Service

The eleven songs of "Tin soldiers" sound monolithic and would have been the ultimate successor of "Keepers of the 7 keys part II" … The speed is quite fast throughout the whole CD, the singing high, powerful and melodic, but not exaggeratedly cheesy.

by Matthias Mader (24.07.2009) Trick Or Treat? Makes me think of that shoddy 80s movie featuring Gene Simmons as sleazy radio DJ... But there’s also a connection to the legendary German Metal band Helloween. Be that as it may, it shouldn’t interest us too much for now - Trick Or Treat are an Italian Melodic Power Metal outfit presenting us with their superb new album "Tin soldiers" (which comes with an awesome cover artwork, btw). Aaand, ok, here’s the Helloween thing again: the eleven songs on "Tin soldiers" are very homogenous and could easily pass for a legitimate follow-up of "Keepers of the 7 keys part II". The boys like it pretty fast on this album, the vocals are high, powerful and always melodic, yet not too soppy. On "Take your chance", Trick Or Treat take the foot off the accelerator, the song structure is quite poppy (and this is meant as a compliment): a real smasher, and an invitation to sing along!
