There is a good and a sad news with Queensryche. First the good one: guitarist Chris DeGarmo was in the studio with Seattle's finest and contributed three songs for the new album: "Falling Behind", "The Art Of Life', "Doing Fine". The sad one: DeGarmo has not rejoined the band but on the upcoming tour (planned in September 2003) will be replaced by Mike Stone. So all doubts are wiped away that QueensrΒ che will stylistically NOT return to the days of "Operation Mindcrime" or "Empire". Their current album, "Tribe" is a mixture of the former strengths, new influences and modern elements. Of course, all of the ten new songs are dominated by the great voice of Geoff Tate. It's the melancholy in his voice, the vocal-oriented arrangements and the passion of his lectures that make up the charms of this band. Yet: most of the songs take some time until they really ignite.
