by Markus Wosgien (14.07.2008) They have another way of life in Finland: babies seem to imbibe metal with their mother’s milk - there don’t seem to exist any other music genres. No wonder the youngsters over there are very active: Sturm und Drang led the way, and now Tracedawn try to capture the hearts of the metal fans. Their sound is fresh and extreme and not really typical of their country. It does remind you a bit of Children of Bodom, but the melodious death metal of this sextet is a class of its own. The songs are sophisticated with a dash of progressive metal, and live on Antti Lapalainen’s charismatic voice - the young man (he’s 19 years old) mostly sings clean and clear as a bell, but can switch to a deadly evil growl at the appropriate point. You get eight tracks, produced by Nino Laurenne (Sunrise Avenue and others), mixed and mastered in the well-known Finnvox Studio. Help yourself and grab a copy!
