by Matthias Mader (27.02.2008) Metallica are not the inventors of Speed Metal. Slayer aren't either. This honour is due to Anvil and Exciter, both had been around before (and both are from Canada; pure chance?). Unfortunately, Exciter's career went its own way – and not the way of the above mentioned. What went wrong? Well, at least this was not due to the quality of the album. The new album, "Thrash speed burn" easily keeps up the high level of the predecessors, "The dark command" and "Blood of tyrants" (which have been released as much as eight years ago!). The big question for all Exciter-fans is, of course: will the new singer come close to Jaques Bélanger? And to end all worries: yes, Kenny Winter stands the test displayed with colours and, in fact, I like him even better than the old singer because he not only reaches the highest heights but also reveals an immense power in the middle and low sections - which further increases the power of such immortal Thrash bombs, like "Massacre mountain", "Evil omen" and "Thrash speed burn".
