by Tim Petric (July 2005) Beside the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dropkick Murphys is spearhead of Folk orientated Punk Rock. Regarding their never ending singalong, this bands lets the hearts of their audience fond of singing simply burst. With their sixth album meanwhile, the Boston based band again delivers a first class party album featuring a lyrical depth that initially surprises. With "The warriors code", the Murphys give honour top the boxing legend, Micky Ward. Or remind with "Your spirits alive" of the hockey player, Mark Bavis, who died, and finally deal with Sgt. Andrew Farrar, who dies as a soldier in the Iraq war in "Last letter home". Just when the tears are about to roll down, you should get yourself a Guiness quickly because this ain't no place for sadness. This mixture of melancholy and uncontrolled party pleasure is the mixture that makes this band so unique. Consequently: "Never forget chickenman"! (Tim Petric - July 2005)
