by Marcel Anders (13.07.2007) Their 2005-debut provided them with the international breakthrough. Since then, The Bravery are called the American answer to the Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand & Co. A juvenile, thin quintet in cool designer clothes, combining 80s Disco with guitar inspired Rock, writing a lot of tiny ear wigs and delivering a nice media battle with their label colleagues, the Killers. To whom with "The sun and the moon" they have at least one thing ahead: a good, second album. Because while Brendan Flowers & Co. suffocate in kitschy keyboard melodies, The Bravery appear comparably matured. Under the supervision of Brendan O'Brien (Velvet Revolver, Pearl Jam, S.T.P.), they changed their old sample sounds of beats and riffs almost completely with an organic, warm 60s Rock. Complete with Hammond organ, strings and piano and added by a cornucopia of great melodies, a range from Dub via Vauderville to acoustic ballads, and a sound that is simply timeless and beautiful.
