Formed as a side project by THE RED CHORD’s Mike "Gunface" McKenzie and Greg Weeks, BEYOND THE SIXTH SEAL have been dedicated to having fun from day one. Highly improbable "rumors" about each band member, their temporary break-up, and the brilliant, acid-like artwork (designed by Paul Romano, who has worked with the likes of MASTODON and MAROON, among many others) of their new album "The Resurrection Of Everything Tough" all suggest that the three personalities involved place a huge value on self-realization rather than following a pre-designed rock star career. Despite the focus being on "fun fun fun", the trio does not spare any technical and songwriting skills, let alone drifting into the realm of ridicule. While their previous effort and underground hit "Earth And Sphere" paid tribute to Scandinavian melodic death metal, BEYOND THE SIXTH SEAL 2007 rock away in a death’n’roll style somewhere between EDGE OF SANITY, CROWBAR and MOTÖRHEAD!(Source: Metal Blade Records)

by Matthias Mader (11.04.2007) Very strange stories grow around the musicians of Beyond The Sixth Seal; stories, that seem to directly come from the script of a horror-movie. After their 2002-album, "Earth and sphere", Brendan Roche, Greg Weeks and Gunface disappeared without trace - it was said that they had become entangled in the wheels and deals of a mysterious wolf cult. Accordingly, the title of their new album, "The resurrection of everything tough", is very fitting. So, do Metal Blade present us their next Metalcore hopefuls after Cataract, Machine Made God and Unearth? Far off. Death'n'Roll is the magic word combination, a mixture of Crowbar, Cannibal Corpse and Motörhead. Compositions, like "I die at 35" and "Blood of a ghost" are almost danceable, the basic constructs from Rock'n'Roll-rhythms and melodic guitar leads are held together of exquisite vacuum cleaner vocals. Imagine a mixture of Glenn Danzig with a little humour and a good, musical taste and you can about guess how entertaining this album is…
