11.Soldiers of misfortune (Live 2007)
by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (27.01.2010) In the Canadian scene, Obliveon, short-lived Dyoxen and Annihilator were the technical and progressive bands - Razor and Sacrifice used to stand for banging it up. Razor managed to release seven albums between 1985 and 1991, Sacrifice had three outputs in that time span, followed by brilliant "Apocalypse inside" (1993) - Dew-Scented used to do a cover version of its title track. And now theyβre back, finally. Brazilian label Marquee Records, having rereleased the first three albums as double CDs including demo and live material, have licensed "The ones I condemn" to Cyclone Empire (a.o., Paganizer, Evocation). Which is just perfect because old school gem will make Exodus aficionados stretch their bones and get ready to rumble! No experiments, just great songwriting, technical versatility and a huge helping of aggression: you better fasten our seatbelts and prepare for an earthquake. "The devilβs martyr" is pretty short - in spite of that, it includes guest performances by two Canadian legends: Dave Hewson (Slaughter) and Jed Simon (ex-Devin Townsend, Zimmerβs Hole.)
