by Markus Wosgien (April 2005) Death declared live longer. Just like the German black metallers, Black Messiah, who now, eight years after their debut album, "Sceptre of black knowledge" return with a new opus. Band founder, Zagan had to replace the whole team in between and took a long time for the new compositions. Still, for 2005, Black Messiah have lost nothing of their magic spirit and still stand for fast, melodic and anthemnic black metal with some heathen folk input. Mandolins and strings provide some individual sound beside the synths which again lifts Black Messiah from the masses. Some of the tracks, such as "Blutsbruder" or "Christenfeind" are being sung in German and a few years old already opposing the newer tracks, like the faster "Setting sails" with its certain Pagan/Viking-flair. Generally spoken, "The oath of a warrior" is a fantastic black metal album that you have to close your eyes for and be lead through the halls of Odin's to Asgard. (Markus Wosgien - April 2005)
