by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (29.01.2009) Apart from the professional studio songstress, the line-up consists completely of ex-Autumnblaze-(Session) musicians - so you’d have expected a deal with Prophecy Productions (the cover would have been a perfect counterpiece for their "Mute boy, sad girl"). Instead, the band has signed with a sub-label of SCR (a.o., Nocte Obducta) and release their album (17 tracks - 72 minutes total playing time!) there. The band, used to extensive touring, has already been presented with some prestigious awards even before the release of their debut (and rightly so). Alternative Rock means here: the music’s neither too bright nor too depressive - `Bo-toxx mind society’, for example, is catchy and aggressive. The guitar fire is impressive and Jennie Kloos struts her stuff, not acting like a fragile little thing, but making full good use of the sex and power she has in her vocal chords! Cheeno are much more extraverted than Autumnblaze ever were. These are first class musicians with a plethora of ideas, and this is a terrific production. Hot stuff!
