The name Reviver has been around for years now in the heavy metal underground, often in comparison with names like Crimson Glory, Fates Warning and the early Iced Earth. After four demo cds and many sampler contributions they now release their first longplayer album which easily lives up to the expectations: traditional, U.S. inspired old school metal that often comes dangerously close to the mentioned names. Singer Patrick von Maurk (ex-Montany) sometimes resembles John Arch and convinces by his charismatic, powerful voice. Produced was the album in the Dutch Steelwork Studios, and they seem to have watched on sounding as old school as possible. The result are speed metal killers, like "Osiris eyes", the anthemnic "Garden of Eden" or "Cycles" already known from "Metal Crusade Vol.III". 12 tracks that will let all fans of traditional and classic sounds jubilee. This is as if time stood still, reviver manage to bring back the glorious 80s. Without serving in the old clichés, the band recorded a timeless and first class heavy metal opus that will be loved not only by nostalgic fans. (Markus Wosgien - April 2005)
