With only two conceptual albums, the 2015 album 'Pain Cleanses Every Doubt' and its successor 'Converging Sins' from 2016, as well as some split and EP releases, the Cologne black metal band ULTHA has taken the scene by storm. With the desire to be different and a creative vision, ULTHA has already achieved a goal that hardly any other band in this sometimes stubborn genre has reached: creating unique, fresh, and simultaneously harsh and beautiful black metal art. Now, with the aptly titled third album 'The Inextricable Wandering,' something new is coming from Cologne: black metal frenzy, crushing doom heaviness, and dark wave gloom are perfectly combined here. With 'The Inextricable Wandering,' ULTHA ascend the steps to the hall of extreme metal triumph, while simultaneously musically plunging into a maelstrom of the darkness of the human mind. An eerie ride into an abyss of ubiquitous fear, permanent disappointment, and overwhelming melancholy.
