Like the predecessor, "The inquisitionβ€œ, the new album is quite gloomy and thoughtful. Singer and keyboardist Magnus Winterwild ponders about the end of the world and musically lets his feelings go. Consequently, "The final requiemβ€œ is a bit heavier incorporating many melancholic elements, too. New member, Joakim Jonsson (Skyfire) brings in a lot of new power with his Children Of Bodom orientated guitars. Axenstar have long stepped out of the shadows of their genre colleagues, like Helloween and Stratovarius and found their own sound. Again, one hit is chased by the next and you just have to sing along, bang your head and drive crazy with this album. Axenstar stands for melodic, powerful power metal of the finest kind.
