13.A Key To Nothing
On their second album, Mudvayne present a load of energy that after their inspired debut, "L.D. 50" could not really be expected like that. Frontman Chüd, an animal of a singer, threatens and rages, snorts and bawls that your blood freezes in your veins. Guitarist Güüg adds rough guitar riffs, bassist R-üD and drummer Spüg hammer like mad. 18 months on the road have left their marks. The stage as their educational institution, the audience as catalyst , the volume as the additional adrenaline-kick, that's how Mudvayne got all this energy into their music that now is presented in thirteen raw Metal tracks. "No more doors, no more locks, no more windows, no more box," screams Chüd in the final track, "A key to nothing" and leaves his audience in great confusion. If you're looking for answers, you have to look on: "I'm just a shadow of a man, just a superficial tool" ("Shadow Man"). May be, but one with strong shoulders. (Matthias Mineur - 11/02)
