by Markus Wosgien (04/01) The name The Vision Bleak has been around for some time in the underground and it promised that there is something big coming at us. And "The deathship has a new captain" can already be seen as a new milestone and a genre classic since this album has everything! The gloomy, very theatrical Gothic kind of Metal is innovative and has an enormous, intense feel. Goose flesh is pre-programmed and the name horror Metal best describes this listening experience. Influenced by horror literature and films they have created their own unique sound that is both straight and commercial as well as on a high composition level. Each song is a hymn in itself and really captures the listener, lets him forget everything around himself and lets him dream. Tracks like "Lone night rider", "Elisabeth dane" or the magical "Horror of antarctica" could really please a broad audience and should cause a general stir. Fans of the early Moonspell, Paradise Lost but also of HIM should be delighted and definitely have to check out this masterpiece. Beside the normal edition the album is also available as a luxury version with five additional bonus tracks, so you shouldn't wait too long! (Markus Wosgien - 04/01)
