by Lothar Landt (14.09.2007) With "The dark side", the Spanish Darksun release their first studio album in English. The two predecessors still sung in Spanish caused a lot of stir in their home country. The change was surely the right decision because the new songs are definitely of international format. Furthermore, singer Daniel Gonzalez has a great voice and is a true Metal singer with a great range. And also the riffing is good, as is proven in, e.g., "Slaves of fear". The guitars are simple, effective and dirty, supported by a blasting rhythm department. Here, it shows that Darksun are good songwriters enriching their Melodic Power Metal with their own style. The melodic element is always present supported by the extensive keyboard parts. Uprising is the "Elegy"-trilogy, containing a lot of classic organ elements – a real hitter. Darksun is a great surprise because the great guitar parts are really special and the songs are just good. Well done!
