11.Knife To Meet You (Video) (Data Track)
by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (26.09.2007) There is nothing here that reminds me of the band that awkwardly opened the 2003-Party.San-Open Air setting Dismember's "Casket garden" into the dust in front of the stage. The band formerly known as Contrition had their debut as a split-partner of Heaven Shall Burn and have long progressed to a sovereign (Melodic) Death Metal-formation that draws the attention of absolute luminaries: Edge Of Sanity-mainman, Dan Swanö provided the mix and mastering of their third album and added some self-willed but always fitting frets to it – yet, not the vocals in "Funeral eclipse". In "Knife to meet you", not only the word-play fits but also the balance of lively guitar and rhythm section. No misunderstandings: "The crossifre" is neither old school Death Metal with no mercy, nor sugary, Gothenburg sweety but a modern, groovy approach with the best of all worlds. Made in Germany. Including some Hardcore-leftovers but they are less striking than in Neaera and Maroon. My listening tip: the fine title track.
