11.Two Brothers & The Sinners Chess (Bonus Track)
by Henning Richter (20.04.2009) At the end of the 80s, I didn't think that Domain would make it into the 21st century - but the German Melodic Metal flagship has so far steered clear from all trends and managed to be afloat. This perseverance seems to pay off now, at least creativity-wise. On this new output, band leader Axel Ritt has a new singer aboard (Nicolaj Ruhnow) - this change has allowed him to renovate, redefine, and reinvent Domain. "The chronicles of love, hate and sorrow " is a concept album (if you like: a Metal opera) dealing with Goethe's "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" - that works surprisingly well and sounds organic and alive all the time. Well, at least much better than, for example, "Nostradamus". The ten songs are sound and solid and not artificial or theatrical at all.
