10.The icon and the faceless
by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (29.10.2008) What an advancement for these youngsters who began their career as a Power Metal band… After their nice debut "Infamy and the breed" (2007), the Swedes, at that time under contract with the small label Pivotal Records, moved directly on to German Metal specialists Century Media. The quartet has an exceptional position in their roster, maybe comparable to Old Man’s Child. The boys from "Naglfar City" Umea celebrate modern Black Metal, with considerable dashes of Death here and there (example: "Termination process"). Although they don’t have a permanent keyboard player, this instrument does provide the songs with their symphonic opulence and majestic grace. The tracks are arranged excitingly, detail-loaded, but nevertheless not too long. Necromorbus fans might dislike the Fredman sound because of its clearness - but it’s perfectly apt for the ambitions of this band. Check out slow and outstandingly melodic "Contra mundum".
