This Best Of album was originally released in 1981 and brings together the classic singles that The Damned recorded for Chiswick. These include 'Love Song', 'Smash It Up', 'I Just Can't Be Happy Today', 'History Of The World Part 1', 'Hit Or Miss', their Christmas single 'There Ain't No Sanity Clause' and of course 'Wait For The Blackout'. Today, these are not only considered classic Damned tracks of the second phase, but also represent a musical evolution in which the band transitioned from their punk roots to melodic pop songs that also charted. When the album was first released in 1981, it also included the earlier punk classics 'New Rose' and 'Neat Neat Neat'. It even features the Captain Sensible and the Softies version of 'Jet Boy, Jet Girl', which was released in 1982 as the B-side to 'Wait For The Blackout'. Includes new liner notes by Ian Shirley.
