by Andreas Reissnauer (01/03) Shadows Fall are one of those bands currently stirring up the American underground with their mixture of Hardcore and Swedish Melodic Death in In Flames/Dark Tranquillity-vein. This style has meanwhile turned out to be a real movement with many bands and a broad fan-base. It won't take long until this trend will set forth in Europe, too. Then, Shadows Fall will definitely be one of the leading bands because they manage to combine first-class compositions with catchy guitar melodies. In contrast to their many colleagues who still prefer the killer-method they always search for the melody first. Yet, heaviness comes close so that the end result is a diverse and rich sound picture that will delight fans of Killswitch Engage and the likes!
